Lord & Taylor

Lord & Taylor is America’s oldest department store, but that certainly does not grant them immunity to failure and struggle. In 2019 they will be closing nine of their stores, including its known and loved flagship store in Fifth Avenue in New York. Many think that part of Lord & Taylor’s struggle is that most of their locations are in shopping malls, which are struggling across the whole country. As a last-ditch effort to save its name, Lord & Taylor is partnering with Walmart; on Walmart’s website you can find over 125 name brands to shop from via Lord & Taylor.

Topshop

Topshop, the British fashion chain, made a grand entrance into America in 2009 and was greeted with a warm welcome. After just 10 years in the States, the company is shutting down all of its brick-and-mortar stores, even in cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, and San Diego. Though they no longer have any walk-in stores in the U.S., you can still shop online and in most Nordstrom locations where they have an entire section dedicated to the brand.
