This may come as a surprise to many people, especially those die-hard Nordstrom lovers. Instead of investing money in saving its brick-and-mortar storefronts, Nordstrom is pouring more of their time and energy into their Nordstrom Rack locations and their e-commerce site. Despite this, Nordstrom is opening a flagship store in New York City that will take up seven floors! You may not notice a lot of Nordstrom locations closing, but they’re going in secret.

Okay, before everyone starts worrying, Target isn’t really going anywhere, per se. Six Target locations have closed in 2019 so far and they’re planning on closing half a dozen by the end of the year. In 2018 the store lost 13 locations and 12 the year prior. Just because some locations are closing, that does not mean the chain is in jeopardy. Target is opening 30 new, but smaller, locations this year, and is remodeling about 300 of its large locations in the next few years. So just because Target may be changing and downsizing, the chain is not disappearing.
