Sweet Pineapple
Although it may seem counterintuitive, salt enhances the sweetness of the pineapple. Seriously, you’d be surprised how much a shot or pinch can alter the flavor of fruits you eat on a daily basis. Adding salt to pineapple reduces the bitterness of the fruit, allowing your brain to better interpret sweetness. Sprinkle some salt on top of your pineapple the next time it tastes a little bland to fool your mind into thinking it’s sweeter than it is.
Melon
One of the things salt does, as you saw with the pineapple is attracting water to itself. If you have a high salt concentration area next to a low salt concentration area, the water will flow from the low salt concentration area to the high salt concentration area. You can create an area of high salt concentration next to these cells by sprinkling a little salt on your melon. Your saliva will be drawn to the surface you’re biting, giving it flavor. Because of the salt, the melon has miraculously become sweeter!
