In areas where ants like to congregate, spray a solution of salt and water. Salty areas are avoided by the ants. So spray around window sills, doors, and other ant entry points. The ants are repelled, and you are spared from inhaling harmful insecticide fumes. Another option is to combine the salt and boiling water and toss everything into an anthill at the same time. This will result in a large number of dead ants, but it may not be enough to kill all of them.

More exciting than butter and salt can be used as a movie accompaniment. Salt flour (superfine salt) is used to flavor popcorn in movie theaters. In that case, all you’ll need is a food processor (or an inexpensive coffee grinder; just remember that you won’t be using it for coffee anymore, so it’ll serve as a spice grinder for the rest of the time). In a food processor, grind the table salt until it is extremely fine (about 10-15 seconds). If you want to use kosher salt, simply grind it a little longer.
